The hard rock band Cobweb hails from Patan, Nepal. By publishing their debut album, “Anjaan,” in 1993, a group of schoolmates from Patan created the band. The debut album did not perform well. With songs like “Maryo ni Maryo,” from the second album Cobweb, Nepalese rock gained a foothold in the mainstream. In the contemporary Nepalese music scene, the band is regarded as a trend-setter.

Anjaan, the band’s debut album, was released in 1993. The Nepali society did not favor the album or the music video, citing inappropriate clothes including long hair and men wearing earrings, which were uncommon in the 1990s.Yet, the second and succeeding albums were well-liked by young people. They debuted their first video, Maryo ni Maryo, on Image Channel via Nepal Television, where it quickly gained popularity among young people.
